Lesson Packs add to what you learn in Syntorial’s The Essentials. Drum Synthesis is a full course of its own: you build drums by ear in Syntorial’s synth and get scored, then take them further in Vital, a free synth. The synth packs show everything from The Essentials on a specific synth. Their videos appear inside the On Your Own lessons, so you can learn a concept in Syntorial, then see it on your synth without leaving the lesson. The Serum, Sylenth1, Massive, Minimoog Voyager and Z3TA+ 2 packs are included with Syntorial at no extra cost. Drum Synthesis and Nord Stage 4 are paid add-ons. Charging for new packs lets us bring in new voices like Sketi and Marc Larochelle and make a lot more of them. Try the free Syntorial Demo, which includes a free sample of each pack.
Not every synth has a dedicated Lesson Pack.
For those cases, the Syntorial-to-Synth Parameter Mapping is a crowdsourced reference that helps you translate Syntorial concepts to many other instruments. It’s useful for the On Your Own lessons and beyond.
Drum Synthesis Lesson Pack
Taught by Sketi, Drum Synthesis is a full course inside Syntorial, not a set of videos. You build kicks, snares, toms and hi-hats from scratch in Syntorial’s synth, by ear, and get scored the same way as The Essentials. Then the advanced sections move to Vital, a free synth, for in-depth video lessons that end with crash and ride cymbals. It has 10 sections and 28 lessons, its own progress bar and milestones, and a certificate signed by Sketi, with subtitles in English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese. The Kick Drum section is free to try, even in the demo. The full course requires the full version of Syntorial.
