      Hi all,

There’s a bass with pulsating volume starting at 0:07 in Martin Garrix’s Access

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGJ3Jhb7i88&feature=youtu.be&t=7), and it has what appears to be a noise gate / filter LFO / or other volume limiting effect. However no matter how many things I’ve tried I can’t recreate this patch.

I’m guessing that this is a long bass note (high sustain) that has some type of volume gate on top of it driven by an LFO or something similar. The basics of what I have are 2 saw waves with short attack filter w/ medium-low cutoff, ~100 ms attack, 100% sustain quick release. I could be wrong and this could be a patch with low sustain and fast decay and just a series of notes being played over and over. From one of Martin’s interviews I know he’s a fan of volume gating (grossbeat).

This may be more of an effect than a patch I’m struggling with, but am hoping someone can push me in the right direction.

      Cheers!

Hey there I tried my best to get close to the sound, I hope this helps. I used the Logic Pro stock Plugin Alchemy for this. First I used 2 saw waves, one I pulled down 12 semitones, the other I pulled down 24 semitones. I pulled both Unisons up to 4, then I pulled the cutoffs for both Oscillators down to 0 Hz. For the Cutoffs I modulated both with the Step Sequencer up to 30% on the higher Oscillator and 35% on the lower one. The speed at which the Step Sequencer was going at was 1/64T.
