Kraftwerk’s 1978 electronic classic “The Model,” from their album *The Man-Machine*, features one of the most recognizable basslines in synth-pop history, created using vintage analog synthesizers that defined the band’s robotic aesthetic. The distinctive round bass sound was likely generated with a Moog synthesizer (possibly the Micromoog or Minimoog), and uses a square wave, heavy low pass filtering, and a very subtle attack transient made by the filter and amp envelope. You can hear this iconic bass synth enter prominently at 0:17 in the track, providing the foundational pulse that drives the entire composition.
