Gigi D’Agostino’s 1999 Eurodance anthem “L’Amour Toujours” became a defining track of the late 90s dance music scene, built around an instantly recognizable supersaw lead synthesizer that drives the song’s euphoric energy. The lead synth features heavily detuned unison sawtooth oscillators with a sharp pitch envelope that creates a distinctive attack transient, giving each note a dramatic swooping entrance. This massive lead sound is further enhanced by extensive reverb processing that creates the track’s signature wall of sound, typical of the Eurodance genre’s maximalist approach to synthesis. You can hear the iconic lead synth loop begin its prominent role at approximately 35 seconds into the track, where it establishes the main melodic hook that carries throughout the song.
