    Hey y’all,

I’m trying to create the retro-sounding synth line that starts at 1:00.

I’ve spent a couple hours trying to recreate it and I feel like I’m close but I’m missing some X factor to really nail this sound.

See attached my attempts on both Serum and Massive: https://we.tl/t-6ozG85sS3T. Ignore the file names themselves. I think my Serum attempt is closer but they’re both missing something.

What am I missing here? First, I think that there isn’t another oscillator an octave down so I will likely remove that, but then, when the oscillator is by itself, I’m missing something to get that analog-ish sound.

    Anyways, would welcome any comments!

I’d say your Serum preset is almost spot-on. Here are a few tweaks to try:

    Turn UP the lower oscillator.

Bring up the resonance on the filter to make it a bit sharper.

Increase the distortion a bit to get a little more bite.

Add wide 2-voice unison to both oscillators with just enough detune to make the sound go wide, but not really create any noticeable smearing or pulsating.
